They were published originally by Simon and Schuster and printed by Western. The two non Disney sets were written by Dorothy Kunhardt and illustrated by Garth Williams
The books were originally sold in beautifully lithographed boxes with slip covers, in sets of 12. The three sets were Tiny Nonsense Stories ©1949,Tiny Animal Stories ©1948 and Tiny Disney Stories ©1950. They were later done in single sets of 12(with book numbers), 24 (non-Disney ©1968) and 36 (all three sets ©1964).
The following two were reprinted in 1981 in different style boxes then the origianls. The Tiny Golden Library (Reprint of Tiny Nonsense Stories) ©1981. Walt Disney Studios Tiny Theater(Reprint of Tiny Movie Stories ©1981). They changed a few of the Tiny Disney Books titles when they were reprinted at this time.
First editions will state Simon and Schuster and have no numbers on cover while reprints have number in circles and will probably state Golden Press.
Mint box sets of the non-Disney sell for around $50 - $150 in nice complete condition. Single books at around $3 - $5. The original Disney set would
bring between $100 - $200 in mint condition. The 24 book set $50 - $100, 36 book set $40 - $100 and the 1981 sets $20 - $40. Individual Books don't sell very well unless the person is missing one to complete a set.
Below you'll find the titles included in the different series.
